About The Gullah Farmers Cooperative: The Gullah Farmers Cooperative was formed in 2010, and today represents many Gullah farm operations in coastal counties of South Carolina. It is the largest Black-owned agricultural cooperative in the Southeast, and prioritizes serving Black farmers. The Cooperative’s mission is to establish a profitable, significant local food market for Farmer Members who are honoring and continuing the agricultural traditions of our communities by growing fresh produce. The Cooperative’s facility on St. Helena Island provides wholesale packing, processing, aggregation, distribution and marketing services for current and new members, as well as other local farmers in the Lowcountry. Marketing & Sales Manager Job Requirements Develop relationships with agriculturally based wholesale purchasers. Manage customer orders and relationship to ensure successful fulfillment of customer orders. Cultivate new and on-going customer relationships to buy more agricultural products. These duties include, but not limited to: Marketing/Sales, Invoice/Payment Systems, Two years experience in financial management, bookkeeping, accounting, sales and or a related field. Program Director - Job Description The Program Director position is a leadership role within the Cooperative. The person filling this position is a highly motivated, detail and deadline oriented individual, who is focused on the high-quality performance and growth of the operations. The Program Director will directly oversee the activities of 2-3 Managers who have responsibility for teams of 2-5 people who are full time and/or part-time and seasonal. The Program Director will report directly to the Cooperative Board through a weekly leadership meeting and as needed. Specific duties include: Program Management. Establish performance indicators for each program/project at the Cooperative. Monitor deliverables with weekly review of performance indicators and staff reports.. Work with program managers to prioritize work activities, set work plans, solve for program challenges, and increase efficient workflow. Grants Management. Manage grant activities for the Cooperative. Create tools to track budgets for program staff. Track and report on programmatic deliverables. Maintain a reporting calendar, and coordinate the compilation and submission of financial and activity reports. Financial systems and reports. With administrative and bookkeeping support, manage budgets, bookkeeping, and the weekly processing of financial transactions. Finalize monthly financial reports to present to the Board and to ensure compliance with grant budgets. Coordinate tax filings and financial audits. Support the development of annual budgets, grant project budgets and financial projections. Human Resources. Manage staff compliance with personnel policies and maintain employee records and personnel files, as well as payroll submissions. Coordinate semi-annual staff review process in consultation with managers and Board. Other duties as assigned. Program Director Job Requirements Five years’ or more project management experience, preferably in the field of agribusiness. At least three years’ experience managing people and/or working in human resources. At least three years’ experience managing finances, budgets and using excel as a financial management tool, preferably in the non-profit sector. Demonstrated ability to set goals, meet deadlines, and maintain a highly organized approach to work in a fast-paced, start-up environment. Demonstrated understanding of the historic and present impact that race and culture have on small farms and farm families in the South. Ability to work with Microsoft Office and social media. Valid driver’s license at time of hire and up-to-date COVID vaccine required. The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000.
